i am a home of broken bones 

spine embedded in limestones  

the rushing of flame

& the nameless remain 

of a foundation on fire


 my name is carved into the concrete 


ashes mounted like tombstones

they must have buried my collarbones 

the watering of rain

then a sprouting vein

of earth's backfire 

            a spine… 

              growing straight though the concrete

it is now at 5:25 on a monday evening 

that i realize what has kept me here 

i am surviving off of dead poets & living ones

their souls live by keeping mine alive

i am here because 

one stanza 

one sentence 

one word 

found my breath 

worth taking 

 

each one a compression on my chest saying 

just one more day 

 

poets never die
